Any power rankings list is going to be subject to a certain amount of volatility. Quarterbacks are no different. The grading system is only valid for the tangible resource that is the games. This list reflects 2016 performance, team upgrades to support the quarterback and projection of improvement and decline.

These are the best quarterbacks for the 2017 season as of July 28.

1. Tom Brady NE Flawless player defying the law of aging – defines greatness
2. Aaron Rodgers GB The most physically gifted QB ever, just behind Brady
3. Drew Brees NO Cerebrally brilliant, Brees in pinpoint to any area of the field
4. Cam Newton CAR Transcendent player. Big arm, moves like a WR, big as a DE
5. Matt Ryan ATL Attention to detail, anticipation and arm-talent = MVP
6. Andrew Luck IND Astute elusiveness and ability to extend plays, #1 soon?
7. Russell Wilson SEA A perpetual Houdini Act, flawless mechanics, explosive
8. Ryan Tannehill MIA Tannehill’s elite traits finally shined with Adam Gase
